Came here during happy hours with a friend, IPA was good and poutine (classic) was awesome
this is one of the best places i have ever been. really great food, good portion sizes, which is super tasty. the drinks are just top notch. the service is just impeccable. really loved the place. highly recommended.
I've been coming here for 5 years and i love this place and the employees! However, they recently made a lot of changes to the menu (and prices...) and i must say not for the better. Fair enough with new owners to switch things up and raise the prices, but when the new menu description and pictures are very misleading it gets disappointing. I ordered a mini fish and chips, expecting a small serving of fries, fish and sauce (as shown on the picture). The waitress warned me the picture was not representative and the fish was small bites, but I was surprised when there wasn't even any fries. Don't have a dish named mini fish and chips if there's not even any chips :( ! Picture of the actual item for reference. And also, please bring back the cheesy Jack poutine. We really miss it!!
Good food, good service. A colony of ants was enjoying Sunday dinner on the windowsill next to my table. Fortunately they didn’t try to eat my food. The atmosphere of the non-insect crowd was great, however. Canada won.
My friends and myself were once part of the furniture at McCarold’s. Our long evenings were then filled with long forgotten and unproven manly-man tales of conquests and fortunes. For the sake of a healthier liver and as family duties were calling upon, I had to abandon ship and ancre my safety boat in a distant suburb. I still go back every now and then, so to remember the good times and the better times. Set almost at the foot of Mount-Royal in the busy, eclectic and diversified district of Côtes-des-neiges, in Frenglish Montreal, the venue offers plenty of seats, with several rooms and 2 terrasses. The selection of beers and liquors is one of the best in Montréal. The kitchen offers a pretty good selection of meals based on pubs’ culture. For example the ever Oh so popular Ballymore burger and Shepherd’s pie. If one feels adventurous, the burger with peanut butter, the Edson, or the Japanese poutine, the Chuck Norris, are worth the try. If you’re thinking « lean », you can opt for a fresh salad as a side. If you’re thinking blood pressure annihilator and heart attack, side for a poutine along the burger and keep your meds at reach. Besides minding my nutrition, I just love to sit on the terasse on the side by the church when the lilacs are in bloom during spring or in the fall at peak folliage. If you come around, please do say Hi to Martine and Mathieu, the loveliest staff I’ve ever met around. They’ve hold clients in respect for as long as I can remember. I’m positive they can show you where the bar still shows signs of wear from my elbows, as years of indulging pints after pints required appropriate support and balance. Cheers to all beer lovers !
