Food was very yummy! And the atmosphere is great. Gotta get the mint tea... the best. Special shout out to the girl who tended to us while we waited for our table, her personality was outstanding and she came and checked on us a few times after we were handed over. The wine connoisseur also gets a shout out, paired very nice wines with our meal and we had fun learning about it.
We visited Damas on a Saturday evening for a double‑date to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and from the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel genuinely welcomed. We ordered a range of dishes, with the cheese borek and lamb hummus standing out as clear favorites. The mixed grill is essential if you want to sample their different meats, each cooked beautifully. And don’t hesitate to ask for extra bread as it arrives warm, soft, and impossible to resist. Throughout the meal, the attentive service really shone, from changing our plates between courses to keeping our water glasses filled. It made the whole evening feel thoughtful and special.
Life changing experience. I have been to a lot of good middle eastern places around the world but this is by far one of the best. I did the tasting menu and every dish was incredible. I heard the guy next to me say that the food reminded him of his mom’s cooking, that’s how you know. I think my favorite was either the fattoush or the pastirma. If you sit at the bar you definitely gotta try to strike up a conversation with Amjad (not sure if I spelled his name right) - he’s a really great guy.
First time trying Syrian food and I was completely blown away with the food. It was fresh, aromatic, healthy and absolutely delicious. Service was absolutely amazing. Tessie our server was phenomenal. She explained the components of each dish. Made some really good recommendations. Even though it was a fixed menu, accommodations were made based on individual preferences. The wait staff were absolutely fantastic. Every time we completed a meal, the servers came by to switch out our dishes, cutlery and clean any crumbs off our table. Overall an amazing experience and would definitely recommend this restaurant as a must stop when visiting Montreal
I never leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing enough that I feel obligated to warn others considering the tasting menu. The restaurant advertises a 10–12 course tasting menu for $160 per person. Unfortunately, what we received was nowhere close to that. For two people, we were served a small salad to share, bread with hummus and baba ghanoush to share, one small piece of charcuterie each, one small lamb meatball each, one small shrimp each (and empty shrimp shells for show), and a small dessert each. Based on photos from other recent reviews, it honestly seemed as though we may have missed a course, as other guests appeared to receive significantly more food and variety. What made the experience even more frustrating was the pacing. We were frequently left waiting 20–30 minutes between courses, only for the next “course” to consist of a single small bite. I have enjoyed tasting menus at many fine dining restaurants, and this was by far the most underwhelming experience I’ve experienced. The wait staff, however, was incredible in their service with refilling waters and cleaning the table. The biggest issue is that the meal simply did not match the 10–12 dish tasting menu being advertised. Had we ordered the individual items we were served à la carte, we could have purchased several full portions, spent far less money, and left satisfied. Instead, we paid $320 before tax for two people and left feeling hungry, disappointed, and genuinely wondering whether we had been served the correct menu. I am sharing this review because I wish someone had warned me beforehand. If you choose to dine here, I would strongly recommend avoiding the tasting menu unless the restaurant can clearly explain how what is served aligns with what is being advertised. I’ve included photos showing everything we received for two people at a cost of $320 (before tax) so others can make an informed decision.
