I had a wonderful dinner experience at Oncle Lee on Laurier. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and positive energy. The hostess was friendly and guided us to our table with a smile. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, with a cozy atmosphere and elegant red accents. One thing I really appreciated was that, despite the open kitchen concept, there was no lingering food smell in the dining room. The service was outstanding. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain the menu and answer our questions. To start, I ordered the spicy salmon on rice cake, and it was absolutely delicious. The contrast between the crispy rice cake and the fresh, tender salmon was perfectly balanced. For my main course, I had the sweet & sour eggplant, topped with fresh coriander and crunchy peanuts. The portions are moderate, so if you have a big appetite, I'd recommend ordering a few dishes to share and enjoy more of the menu. To finish, I ordered the pain perdu, and it was absolutely delicious. Overall, everything exceeded my expectations. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality of the food, the attentive service, and the overall experience. The staff regularly checked on us, cleared empty plates promptly, and made us feel genuinely cared for throughout the evening. I highly recommend Oncle Lee if you're looking for flavorful food, excellent service, and a cozy atmosphere in Montreal.
The ruby-shiny Michelin plate by the kitchen tells you that you are about to have a culinary experience. I made a reservation on the day of our visit, the bar was the best available. I arrived for an early dinner, and the place was at capable by 7. Full. The bar-seating is not for everyone, high stools, constant traffic behind you, and elbow-to-elbow. Yet, our servers offered a very exclusive service, and they were attentive to every step of the visit. The flavors and the aroma of the dishes were balanced. We tried the seafood lo main plate- that was a platter. And, their signature dish, the duck. The bar makes crafted cocktails that pair very well. I wish you book ahead and get a table!
Great food experience! The Soju Negroni cocktail was excellent; great twist. The calamari was excellent, although not plated well (hiding the calamari from view for the most part). The five spice duck was extraordinary; very creative with all parts contributing to the experience. Wife had sea food lo mein: a great dish as well. Highly recommended.
The food is great, they all have a new combination and taste I haven’t tried before but go really well with each other. The customer service is great, they usually come to ask how is it and pour water for us. The ambience is also great, but I think sometimes the music is too loud I can’t hear what the waitress is saying. Price is not cheap but compatible with the quality of the food. We go 2 people and order 3 dishes, was enough for us to be full. Will recommend for everyone to come try 😄
Absolutely incredible in every way! First of all, the food was exceptional. We ordered the ribs because another review recommended them - I agree but the fried rice????!!! WOW. The pain perdu??? NEXT LEVEL. The service was beautiful. Not too little, not too much. Truly just the right amount of coming by the table, everyone was so kind. Allergy friendly as well! We switched waiters and SHE KNEW ABOUT THEM. Other allergy sufferers will know what a special mention that is. The person delivering the food also knew and acknowledged them with each table visit. The atmosphere? Amazing. The music was at the perfect level, the lighting low enough to be cozy without being too low where you bring out your flashlight to read the menu. Its not a huge space, but it's artfully spaced out so there's enough room between tables to comfortably get around. We will most definitely be back!
