Alfred was a great server and created such a welcoming and friendly environment, loooooved the food 10/10. all the staff working last night were amazing too and so helpful to our group considering how busy it was. must stop by if you’re visiting. thank you Alfred!! ❤️❤️
I love fish & chips. I am always down to try out a new fish & chips spot in the hopes of finding another excellent one like the hole-in-the-wall in Kensington Market in Toronto. Unfortunately, the fish & chips from Gaspesie didn’t make the cut. First of all, it’s $30 w taxes and they expect a tip at a glorified food court. Really?? Second, the fish is haddock (as opposed to the meatier and richer halibut you’d expect when paying 30 bucks for ONE piece of fish). Last, and most importantly, it simply doesn’t taste that good.
It was an easy Sunday night and I picked this place to eat and have a beer. Our server was fantastic trying to explain us the menu in English. He let me try different beers a little bit but I loved my IPA. We loved the service, food and ambience for a Sunday night ❤️
I ordered the lobster roll, it was difficult trying to decide between that and the fish & chips. I’m not used to a lobster roll like this, coming from the USA lobster rolls are very simple- medium/large chunks of lobster with a nice butter sauce in a toasted brioche bun. That was not the case here, the lobster meat is sliced very thin and seems marinated, something you’d expect in a seafood salad. Kinda disappointed as I see other reviews of the same dish but with clear visible lobster claw pieces. Nonetheless, the lobster roll was okay, had a nice hint of soy flavor. The fries were good, crunchy and the bacon adds a nice touch of crispy texture (could’ve been warmer/ fresher). Service was decent and the beer was nice. Price isn’t too bad and the atmosphere is nice, food-court style so you can mix and match your dishes.
Gasperie Bistro Gourmand is actually located in what I would consider a food court. However, this is not a typical mall food court at Le Central. It is one of the coolest places I have seen anywhere in Canada! When you walk into Le Central, you are greeted by loud music, dimmed lights, and a vibing atmosphere. Various types of foods and drinks are offered from the numerous stalls such as Gasperie Bistro Gourmand. You will find Italian pizza, Greek souvlaki, Japanese izakaya, or a nice Canadian bison burger. The latter was what I enjoyed from Gasperie Bistro Gourmand along with a nice pint of Gose sour. The bison burger was flavourful. The beer was tasty and cold. The people around me sitting at the various communal long tables were all having a good time. I highly recommend visitors or locals to visit Le Central and especially Gaspesie Bistro Gourmand in Montreal.
