Amazing restaurant in the heart of old Montreal. We loved the food, the cocktails were great and we couldn't have asked for a better table. Top this off with literally perfect service and you have one of the best restaurants we have ever been to. We went two nights on a three night visit to Montreal. We will definitely be back. The Grand Marnier Souffle was the icing on the cake. Absolutely amazing.
We went here at the recommend of our friendly. We opted for the tasting. The best dishes that we would order again were mushroom ravioli and duck breast. Everything else was quite disappointing. Lobster bisque. Lobster vanilla. Foie gras. Etc. overall the dishes were slightly under seasoned and under flavored. lacked the richness and nuance of French cuisine. Overall food was three stars. The quantity of food was adequate. If you are a normal size male then you probably won’t come out full. Though they serve the same dishes from their à la carte menu the portions are quite a bit smaller. The number of course doesn’t make up for the portion size. So just heads up. Service was attentive and friendly. Definitely five stars there.
We stayed at the Hotel Bonaparte and decided to dine in for dinner downstairs. We ordered off the menu a la carté instead of doing the tasting, which also seemed delicious. Started off with the soup of the day which was a celery and leek soup that they served to us in 2 plates as we were sharing. For apps we ordered the homemade smoked salmon and the mushroom ravioli, both were so tasty. I'm a bit biased for any dish that has mushrooms and salmon haha. For mains we shared the scallop delight and one of the specials, which was a hanger steak. You can never go wrong with a buttery scallop and grilled veggies. The steak in it's jus was 👌👌. For dessert we ordered the chocolate soufflé, which takes about 20mins to prepare. The servers and manager were so accommodating of our baby and even offered to bring us our dessert while we went upstairs to feed our baby. We ended up coming back down and finishing up the soufflé there but it was a nice offer from them. Ended off the night not being overly full, which is always a great feeling! 10/10 from the staff and kitchen! 10/10 for hospitality Would come back for the hotel and the restaurant!
Wonderful experience catered by a professional staff, the menu although being very stable, has had a rework in how the plates are served. Some great discoveries with their new dishes, overall eating at this restaurant is a very pleasant experience. The setting is a quaint dining room in old Montreal, white aesthetics and quiet. Attention to detail is unique and precise, if you want to treat yourself and your loved ones I recommend the restaurant Bonaparte! In the area you will find the old port of Montreal, a theatre, group activities, on top of being great, it has amazing things around it
Restaurant Bonaparte is nice but unremarkable—nothing I ate was offensive, but nothing really impressed me. Cocktail options are fun, and the cream of mushroom soup was very good. The plating on the entrees seemed a little tacky and unrefined. The lamb was well cooked and had good texture, though lacked flavor to me, and the chicken with brie similarly tasted like… chicken and brie, and nothing else. The duck was pretty good though in a very sweet sauce. The desserts were standard, the chocolate mousse was a little disappointing as it didnt taste like they used real chocolate in it as opposed to powder, and was simply piped into a bowl. The interior ambiance is very nice, and the service was good. While I think the food here is good, I believe there are better options around both for flavor and presentation of dishes
