I am fr Vegas visiting the lovely city...Came in at 5pm around dinner time..This Pho Bang Bang is busy! The Asian waiters here have no communication w customers...He takes ur order, bring food out..you eat..Pay n go...No customers service...i guess they r busy bcuz not too many Vietnamese great food in this town...so this is the only choice people have...The food very plain taste when come to pho...or noodle w grill shrimp. The waiters need to smile n greet customers..not in a bad mood all the time...if u cant do tht, this is not a job fr you !
I used to come here over a decade ago. Same menu, virtually the same prices, same cash only policy, even the same servers! I always get #1 small pho. Pho is fragrant, beef has depth, plenty of onion, scallion and cilantro to give it punchy flavour. Service is fast, too! Extra bonus: bathrooms are sooooo clean!!!
I used to come here often. In fact, Pho Bang New York (not in New York) was the one that first taught me to appreciate this Americanized northern Vietnam dish more than three decades ago even though there were many pho places in town. The first day when I revisited Montreal recently, I brought my grown daughter to Pho Bang New York. We returned to this place several times during our short stay. Their noodles are less bouncy than I prefer. But their meat cuts are superb, and their soup has a different emphasis from what I often get now. After all these years, they still keep their prices low, although they seem to have adjusted portions somewhat understandably due to inflation. Surprisingly, they now have a weekend special with ox tail soup. That soup has hot spices, and they offer a special hot sauce. You don't want to miss it if you visit on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday! I still remember the weekend evenings when diners quietly - nay, loudly wait to enter near the small doorway at the plain-looking storefront. Today, people do the same. Their interior used be plain, too. But now, they have quite a bit of decors that look loud but do not necessarily go together. General atmosphere here is cozy. Staff speak fluent French and English - many speak Vietnamese, too. Space is tight in this restaurant. So, expect some inconvenience if you visit during winter. (They now have a coat rack in the back although not many people notice that.) And prepare to pay cash. (How do you suppose they can keep price so low?)
I’ve been a loyal customer of this Vietnamese restaurant in Chinatown Montreal for over 13 years — and it never disappoints! 💚 Their soups, fresh rolls, and noodles are always full of flavor and freshness — the true taste of Vietnam 🇻🇳🍜 I’ve tried almost everything on the menu, and honestly, everything is delicious! 😋 I always bring my friends here, and everyone ends up loving it. This place is always busy — there’s usually a line-up, and that says it all! People keep coming back because of the amazing food, friendly service, and consistent quality 🌟 It’s truly the best Vietnamese restaurant in Montreal, and it absolutely deserves its top ratings ❤️
