Description
Your pen making experience begins with a warm welcome and an introduction to the craft of pen turning. We'll go over the day’s plan, review important safety protocols, and share a bit of history about the lathe, a timeless tool used by woodworkers for centuries. Next, you’ll choose your wood from a wide variety of exotic and local species, each with its own unique grain and character. You’ll also select a pen kit with your preferred metal plating. I will then guide you through drilling and gluing the brass tube into the wood blank before heading to the lathe. Under close guidance, you’ll spend time shaping your pen with precision and care, followed by meticulous sanding and polishing to bring out the wood’s natural beauty. The workshop wraps up with pen assembly and a final quality check, then your pen is ready to take home and use or gift!
The entire experience will take place in my woodworking shop, located in a once historic mattress factory, now converted to art studios.
