A friend brought me here after she had recently discovered and had loved it. We went for dinner on a Tuesday evening. Arrived at 6:30 and left sometime after 8:30 as we took our time to finish our drinks. The food was both beautiful and delicious. Each course was exciting and unique from the last that had come out, with such a diversity of textures, flavors and presentations. We had sat at the bar so we got to see them as they work on each dish and the energy behind the bar felt very upbeat. When the chef would present the food to us you could feel the passion he has for his work. Even the cocktails had really unique twists that I really appreciated over how they may be more typically served. I would absolutely come back and bring some more friends to try this place
As fans of Top Chef, my husband and I have wanted to try Cabaret L'Enfer for a while now, and it honestly lived up to the hype. The seven-course menu is perfectly put together, blending seasonal ingredients with bold Latin American flavors. As someone with a major sweet tooth, I was very thrilled that they include two desserts! Everything was delicious, but the scallop crudo, the asparagus with caviar, the bluefin tuna, and the corn-based dessert were real highlights. The service was fantastic, and the staff were so friendly too. We sat at the chef's table, which was such a cool way to see the kitchen in action. It was also a nice touch that Chef Massimo made a point to chat with every single table at least once. We'll definitely be back!
I had one of the most memorable dinners I’ve had in years here. The food was excellent, but what sets this place apart is the experience. The chef works directly with the guests, explains the dishes and wines, and adapts the evening naturally rather than following a script. Every course felt thoughtful without being overcomplicated. The wine pairing introduced me to producers I had never tried, including an outstanding Austrian rosé with the tuna. If you’re looking for a large, bustling dining room, this isn’t it. If you enjoy sitting close to the kitchen and experiencing a chef who is deeply invested in every guest, I can’t recommend Cabaret l’Enfer enough. I’ll make a point of returning the next time I’m in Montréal.
My first night on vacation in Montreal resulted in me getting a reservation at Cabaret l'enfer! I had been following Chef Massimo since he was on Top Chef and I was delighted to be having dinner in his restaurant during the 7 Sins tasting menu. Each of the courses were absolutely Divine and the plating and explanations from the chef was fantastic! The only reason why the atmosphere only gets four out of five stars is because some of the courses didn't quite match up with the sin. It did make sense when you Dove a little deeper, but on the surface it didn't quite match with what most people would think that sin means. That being said, everything was delicious and it was a very fun way to start my first night in Montreal!
This was an all-around fantastic experience. The food presentation was great. The dishes with South American influence were especially good (mole and an entree containing a paste originating from El Salvador). The concept of each course corresponding to one of the seven deadly sins was fun. I was concerned I would leave feeling hungry, but that was not an issue at all. We were seated by the chef's bar. It was fun to see the chefs cook, and they were super friendly in explaining what they were cooking. We did not get the full wine pairing, but did try one pairing as proposed by the sommelier. It was a very good recommendation! Also, I think it's worth highlighting how great the sommelier was. He answered all of our questions, cracked jokes and really elevated our whole experience. We also had some cocktails/mocktails that were tasty. The atmosphere was nice - lots of candles!
