We absolutely loved everything here! Every dish was delicate and full of flavor. Staff were all so nice. We brought our own cake to celebrate a birthday, they even helped plate the cake with a touch of raspberry sauce, which added an extra layer of flavor and made it look so beautiful. Our server Joe was the kindest and provided amazing service. He was very attentive and truly made our experience special and memorable. We were so happy to have him as our server.💛
I made a reservation to this restaurant and am glad I did. It was dinner for Sunday night and the place was already busy. Loved my mussels, mule and creme brulee. My server was less than attentive but fully understand since it was a busy night. The price wasn't too bad either.
We had a great experience at Holder. It was very busy when we went and a bit loud but we could still have an easy conversation at our table of two. The gazpacho was very good while the calamari was not our favorite. It was a bit rubbery. For entrees we had the beef cheek and the mussels. Both were very good, although some of the mussels were a bit gritty. I preferred the beef cheek. For dessert we had the chocolat crémeux and the sorbet trio. The chocolate was one of the best desserts I've ever had. The sorbet was extremely tart. The service was excellent and very professional. Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed our food.
We arrived about 30 minutes before our reservation time, but we were seated right away, which was a great start to the evening. Our server, Philippe, was incredibly kind and welcoming throughout the entire experience. He took the time to explain the daily specials and made us feel genuinely cared for. The food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. To be honest, we had a very disappointing experience at another restaurant the day before, and it almost left a negative impression on our trip to Montreal. Thankfully, this restaurant completely turned things around. Thanks to Philippe and the wonderful team, we were able to enjoy a truly memorable evening and leave Montreal with great memories. Please pass along our sincere thanks to Philippe. His professionalism, kindness, and hospitality made a real difference in our experience. Great food can be found in many places, but restaurants that leave a lasting memory because of the people who work there are rare. Philippe made this one of those places. We would gladly return the next time we visit Montreal.
The French onion soup was delicious. For the appetizer, we had the salmon tartare—it was very fresh and refreshing. For my main, I ordered a steak medium rare, but it came a bit too rare. That said, the steak itself was flavorful, with a nicely seared, crispy exterior. The cut was thick, and paired with the salad, the portion was just right for me. My partner ordered the duck confit—it was tender, flavorful, and not gamey at all, making it very easy to enjoy. We were too full to try dessert. The staff were friendly and the service was great.
